Featured HOW OLD AND FROM WHERE IS MY "ZEN"BRONZE BUDDHA

First of all,Grand Merci for your response so full of details,explanations and history of buddhism....A pleasure to read you..Big Time..!!! Now..Just a little anecdote which might make you smile regarding this Buddha.....In 1985..I went to Kathmandu to visit the country,see the Everest and have a good time...I was working at the time in Karachi Pakistan as a Chef...A member of the Royal Nepalese Family was working with me at the time and his family owned a sister Hotel (Sheraton)in Kathmandu...On the eve of leaving Nepal,they took me to a big Flee Market in the middle of the Town...Where I found this Buddha interesting and bought it....On the day of departure..I checked in my main luggage and have with me the Buddha in my hand baggage....At custom check point...I created a big investigation from many officials regarding the statue.....Obliged to empty the all plane and to check my big luggage which had nothing else....The Buddha had been confiscated to me..And had to stay 3 more day in the Hotel.....After this Period went with my friend to the Department of Heritage to get it back with a certificate written in Nepalese authorizing me to leave the country with it... Unfortunately ,have lost since this certificate and never new if it was Tibetan,Siamese or from other provenance....Only thing I know...Is that he is old enough but not Nepalese...Regarding Botthisatva Buddha....I will send you when I can some photos of few Gandharra pieces I have ,particulary a wee stone 10x7cm of a carved Buddha with wet cloths....To change subject and not beeing too long..I have been facing the same problem with my PC which was using W7...Have contacted Google Chrome with my mobile..Have reset my settings..And it is working even faster than before...Just if it can help......Once again big Thanks to you to spend time and research to help me...Yours..JB

that's too bad....paperwork is of the highest importance..

 

I know it had as well a seal attached...Lost...I do know now...But at the time it was not strict as now to import or export old items....Think I have been quite lucky during those periods I was working abroad....

In Nepal, when you get a seal and certificate it just means it can leave the country because it is not an item of historical or cultural importance. The lack of the throne would be a very good reason. It doesn't mean it is not from Nepal.
I also have Nepali pieces with a seal, they are good and genuine Nepali, but Nepal already has enough similar, and usually more beautiful or special, items.

Wonderful experiences, and good that you have an eye for nice or unusual items.

 

I am sure, You are absolutely right...Trouble..?? Imagine what it meant for me to have been able to leave this Beautiful Country with an extra 3 days Holiday and my Buddha still in hand...Only thing now...Still don't know yet how old is He..!! But Love the way He smiles from AM to PM....
