I think it is safe to say that this cocktail shaker was made before the Shah was overthrown and the ayatollah took over. You won't see one being made today. Very attractive, though!

Since good Muslims don't drink, I'd guess so too. And that price was a "steal". I was just at an estate sale and the dealer would have had $150 on that! At fifteen bucks plus shipping, the seller was all but paying you to get it out of her hair. WOOT!

Thank you CXGIRL (and everyone else). I'm definitely going to hang on to this one for awhile to enjoy it's beauty.

Breathtakingly beautiful, Nate. I only just saw this thread, but wow!

I have no reason to assume a possible dubious origin, considering what people throw out!:jawdrop: And when people deal with an inheritance, they often just get someone in to haul it all away. That someone doesn't always spot the valuable stuff, which then ends up in thrift stores, etc.
Seeing a foreign mark sets many people into 'plated' mode, and Oriental designs are tourist junk anyway, right? I love that way of thinking btw, that's how I get many of my bargains.:D
