    YES!!! :) You said it!
komo, you have no idea ... this jerk has been verbally rude to me at estate sales, not to mention he's just an all around PITA when we are in the thrifts together (we cross paths nearly every week) ... this interaction made my week!

this morning's finds (pictures are NOT good ... not capturing the detail of both pieces :( - battery in camera needs charging)

pretty little purse - I'm now trying to make out the hallmarks under the clasp and sweet sterling and tortoise shell hair comb in need of a polish :) (can shell get wet?)

I'd use a "sunshine cloth" or other polishing cloth, just in case. If it's small enough, I'd use my fingers and a good bit of soap....for cleaning the gunk off my fingers. Old tortoise or celluloid can get a little cranky. Fingers are the best thing for cleaning small bits of silver. Use it like a worry stone for a few days and the dark uck comes right off. Right onto your fingers that is.

Thanks for the warning, evelyb30 ... I didn't want to inadvertently harm it in the process of making it prettier.
