I'd have jumped all over those railroad pieces too. My father was a rail nut to end all rail nuts, and I still buy railroad. I went out hunting this morning, not that there was much to hunt. My best score was my annual VFW poppy.

Hi! You saw both card sets and the mug?

I've not seen any poppies yet. :(
    Hopefully today! :)

I have a Canadian National mug in back of me. :) I saw the cards and the mug. Dunno what I'd do with them if I had them, but I'd have bought them. Last week's prize is half a New York Central lantern. There's no burner and the shade is long gone, but it'll make a nice hanging candle holder for a local rail nut friend.

The mug has a barely noticeable crack, didn't see it until shooting photos, but I would've bought it anyway. I will likely sell all on eBidet. May post them later today.

Mine has a chip out of it. Bought it anyway as a shelf sitter.

I drove 240 miles for an auction today. I bid about $1500 and was only able win $12 of junk.
Had I not been there, the other guy probably would have got that $1500 for less than $100.

I'm debating whether or not to buy this 16 inches high cast iron urn.
How old do you think it is?

These can be tough to tell. They are still made and made to look far older than they are. There may be clues so stand by for opinions from others. :)

Only if the price is right. Probably the most common cast iron urn and still available.

Which one is the better buy:

The previous white urn for 90$

    Or this for 183$?

I like the second one a lot better but the price is pretty steep. Like most antiques, the price on these has dropped quite a bit. I think you should be able to find a nicer one for that kind of money. The damage on the first one and commonality kills it for me.

In looking on ebay, those prices seem pretty good. It really will depend on your area. I just know that in my area, such urns can be picked up pretty cheaply.

Those latter urns are available as a pair, or separately. How important is it to have a pair or does it effect the value in any way?

For some reason no picture of the first shows up for me. If for your own use, just get the Home Depot ones.
