Unknown metalware items??

Discussion in 'Metalware' started by Matthew Bunting, May 28, 2016.

  1. Hello,

I have these metalware items, and to be honest I'm not too sure what they are in terms of style.

I brought them as a set, and annoyingly they have no marks on them anywhere.

Does anyone know what sort of style these are and wherever they have any age?

    Thanks

Are they metal or aluminum? Try magnet test. The tray and bowl
look to have been hammered. The boxes don't have that same look,
they may not belong to the set.

  8. I'm not too sure what they're made out of, I'd say aluminium but they feel too heavy. They are all slightly magnetic, but not strong at all. The strip round the top of the bowl is magnetic.

I agree with you about the tray and bowl being hammered and not part of the set though

Depending on the content some stainless steel can attract slightly.
However...it would be likely be odd to mix SS and steel.

  10. I'm going to go with them being stainless steel then, they're too heavy for aluminium anyway.

Does anyone know what sort of era they might be from or are they a modern creation?

Hammered aluminum was popular in the mid century, this being said since your items don't appear to be aluminum.
