Cody, we would ask that you post photographs of both front and back including the frame and close-ups of the signature and any labels, stickers and handwritten notations on the back.

They need to be under 1MB. Try emailing them to yourself as medium size, that should adjust the size so you can post them.

Can read title + artist's signature on back but not rest of hand writing. Can you post a close close-up?

Boy, close-ups a challenge. The only word I can easily make out is Belgium. Perhaps someone with better eyes/more patience than I can see if any biographical information included. Especially as "Old England" is a phrase that is, to the best of my knowledge, used mainly in the U.S.

    I like that. It's a nice painting.

I don't think the writing on the back adds any information about the painting or the artist. It seems to be an account of a trip taken by a William Martin of Manchester.

I can see, "I passed these cliffs on the 1st/2nd August 1914...", and that section ends, "arrived in London at Charing Cross at 7 A.M."

The other section seems to involve trouble with a train, the passengers having been turned out at the German frontier and having to walk some distance to the nearest station in Belgium.

Ah. Appears to be a cusp of World War I narrative. "... detained by Germany." Painting reminded owner of experience. Might be worth transcribing.
