    As "in" represents "er" to writer, suspect surname is "Driver." Lots of Drivers in Chester Co.

    But frustrating, JJ, that we're being asked to solve a puzzle without all the information via photographs. Is that an envelope? What does it look like? Is it franked? Anything in it? All of that information gives clues that would help decipher handwriting, determine the time period and even, perhaps identify the recipient.

    Hi,
    When I was a kid I sent a letter to my Aunt who lived in West Virginia. All I put on the letter was Aunt Hilda West Virginia. I was living in Pennsylvania at the time. Thanks to the local postmasters here and there the letter arrived 2 days later. I had a Christmas card returned last week that
    was returned to me stating no such person at that address.
    The address I used said 114 A instead of 114 B. really:eek::eek::eek:

    Well, they tried and I assume the postcard reached it's intended destination.
    What I find most interesting is that despite the spelling errors, studious attention was paid to punctuation marks at the salient points.
    At first, I thought it may be from a child but the formation of the capital letters seems like an adult's script.

    From the reverse, the sender was a grown man. And rather prosperous looking. Not being a native-English speaker wouldn't explain his labored effort.

    I know what you mean Greg. We live in a time when the local postal workers don't know who is in their town, even if its a small town :(

    That's ok Greg, my postman made up for it.
    Delivered to my #on Main St. However, different name, town and different zip code.
    Really! ! ! :rage::punch:

    We live in Orleans. We have a box at the East Orleans Post Office because when my husband's ancestors lived here, you couldn't have a mailbox if you lived less than a mile from the PO. It's a total nightmare because USPS mail only will go to our box. UPS and FedEx only deliver to the street address which has a different zip code. We have packages that never arrive because the bots at online sales venues get confused by the differences.

    I have the same situation. Small rural area and live within a mile of the PO. I don't always want packages left on the porch.

    Check with your PO. Ours does allow FEDEX and UPS to drop packages off.
    You have to put the street address of the PO and unit#(box number).

    Post #15 referred to my store which is a different town than where I live, which requires the PO.

    It's the different zip codes between the PO in East Orleans vs. the PO downtown. 02643 vs. 02653. If it was the same zip code it wouldn't be an issue.
