Vintage knife,No Name Storage Find

Storage find.Knife with saw tooth edges,not sure of handle.There's no name,no company.Has some what I think are burns on one side of handle.Blade has wavey designs.I know nothing about this knife.Any information.

 

The 'wavey design' is called Damascus.

 

Proper name would be pattern welded.A lot of file work and probably made by the guy in a "shed".

 

On the surface of the blade, that is; the wavy edges on the back of the blade, and on the liners, would be called file-work. That's a nice knife; looks a bit Spanish to me, but could be made by any competent blacksmith/knifemaker.

looks like a horn grip with brass bolsters.
with no marks....i'd suspect it might be a chinese knife..

 

Could be - if it was a craftsperson/blacksmith/knifemaker, putting in this much work, we'd certainly expect it to be marked. There appears to be some corrosion on the brass, but hard to say how old it is.

No lock....liner lock....it's not in my hand.....but looking at lover69's knife I was thinking Antler & water Buffalo horn handle.....but I wasn't comfy stating that from a photo alone.....

There are hobbyist who put that much file work on there knives,many do not have maker's marks.

 

According to the IBSA, it is 16 x 9 x 9 inches.

 

then, i think the knife is smaller than a breadbox...
