Featured Watch strap buckle advice please

Morning all,
Can I have your advice on this watch strap buckle please?.
It was sold to me as gold but it’s gold filled. Marked B+N which I think is 20s/30s. Obviously there is a discussion to be had with the seller but is this buckle unusual or interesting enough to work out a deal or do I just return?
It’s in good condition and as you can see very pretty and snaps together well.
Any thoughts please?(other than do more homework next time)

How big? Straps attached to anything or 2 loose halves? I think it's pretty neat, but could the straps ever be attached to another watch or is this really about the buckle only?

There is a watch face on the strap but it's just a modern Limit one that definitely isn't contemporary. I'm now thinking it isn't a watch clasp but a fabric bracelet clasp as possibly not man enough to securely hold a watch face. It's all about the buckle!. Fabric strap is modern replacement too.

 

Would think it of great interest to anyone who restores vintage/antique jewellery. Maybe someone will have the gumption to run down the patent date, but my guess is definitely before WWII. Don't let @kyratango see it!

 

Fixed lugs watch strap! This system was to allow sizing of the strap on the wrist by sliding the part where the end snaps
I mean the ribbon was sewn on one lug, slides freely through the other lug, you put on the watch as a bangle and snap the end in place you definited it for your wrist size. Not sure if my explanation is very clear..., but no risk to loose your watch if it opens unwillingly

It is a lovely buckle, but there is visible wear to the plating. I would send it back, full refund of course.

Update- seller was brilliant, very apologetic and offered a refund or a very reasonable discount which I accepted. So I'm going to keep it as I really like it and repurpose it from a watch clasp to a bracelet clasp.
Now I just need some ideas as to what contemporary jewellery would attach well to a fabric strap!
