I think Greg's old enough to be allowed out without adult supervision, not that some guys count as adults. A former Antiques boardie, zippershark, is a postcard guy. OTOH his wife says he's not entirely housebroken. (LOL)

Between the old house and the new apartment, we have 8 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 kitchens, a formal dining room and three living rooms. The more the merrier! We have a revolving door of company in the summer. It would be lots of fun. There's even room for Greg. :)

We've traveled extensively in Europe for 30 years taking high school basketball teams over. A lot of Scandinavian bathrooms are unisex anyway. In Finland, Thursday is sauna night and the whole family goes together. We declined to join them. In public places, there's often one bathroom and women have to walk past the urinals to get to the stalls. They don't really care, but then they were raised that way so it's not a big deal. They think we're a bit childish.

I imagine most of Europe thinks we're a little silly in many ways.

I joined a local postcard club not too long ago, and have been gradually selling the cards my parents collected. The cards in your last photo remind me of a collection my mom had. My dad was into military history, so he had a lot of forts and artillery. I decided to keep their collection of Shenandoah Publishing House cards, and add to it as much as possible, and have caught the bug.

Egads. I've been doing research and there's a lot to learn about postcards. I can go either way - sell them as a lot and let the buyer decide or sort them into lots by age, subject, etc. and try to sell them in smaller batches. There's a whole set of New England covered bridges, for example. Others are from big cities. I wish she'd collected trains or something interesting.

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

I'd love to see you sell them in small batches, to get top dollar, but it would be a labor. I bet you could get a pretty penny for the covered bridge "set", for example!
For some reason, I imagine most people collect them either by subject or time period, right?

It seems so. Industrial, early vehicles, trains, boats are the most popular.

There's good money in dead babies too. It sounds bad, but sometimes it was the only chance the parents had to get a picture of their child. The custom of taking photographs of people laid out has hung on down South, at least in some spots.

Argh!!!!!!!!!! I'm late to the party! I'm obsessed with postcards! I can come and help too.
And I'd like to resurrect the idea of a group yard sale at Bev's house! Let's stay a week and do both. :D:):joyful:;)

I have a photo of my great-grandmother with one of her dead babies on her lap. My son has it framed hanging in his apartment. I'll get a photo & post it!
