Information on this guy is scarce, any help would be greatly appreciated. The painting that I have measures 16"W x 12"H and is oil on board. Wouldn't hurt if I can get a more or less on its worth, thanks.

These were on findartinfo - only two... unsold, but you get some idea from the estimate. Nothing on Worthpoint.

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

Hmmmmmm... Fauvist... I recall that this was a movement inspired by Van Gogh and others. I really love some of the portraits (and self-portraits) in this style.
Example by Derain, @ 1900? Channeling Van Gogh.

    Pardon my off-track musing.

There's a price attached to the item scoutshouse is showing, so that's someone's idea of the value. It's the asking price, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a realistic price. Maybe it's a great price, but how would you know?

More Other Stuff and I are neck and neck!

Asking price (and estimate) means what the seller wants, but art and collectibles (anything for that matter) are only worth what people will pay for them. So far, we only know what the sellers believed his work was worth

So I would look for at least three recently sold paintings and go from there. He may not be well represented on US databases. But I would assume Desa Unicum auction house in Poland did that to arrive at their estimate, so like MoreOtherStuff said, maybe a reasonable price.

What's the background? any provenance or history? faint pencil marks on the back?

Where are you located? You can take it to a good auction house and get an informal appraisal, if you want to sell it yourself - or let them sell it for you. They will want to know how you came by it, and as much history as you can offer - but WE are genuinely curious! :)
