I bought these a couple years ago cause I thought they were cool looking. The nude is by a guy named Donald Hornberger (he's fancy) and is the earliest of his works that I can find (1958).

The second painting I have no idea who's signed it or when it was painted. I'm reading Edmundo M.?.
I tried the Googles and came up with nothing.

Anyone familiar with the style or artist? Thanks.

Nude woman. Breast outlined in the bottom third of canvas with nipples. Heart burning in red.

I'd like to hear Gila's take on that piece.

I think your Edmundo M. painting is probably a tourist decorative work. I get a South American vibe from it.

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

The nude knocks me out! No thoughts as to artist or style (oh well... impressionism meets abstract?) but I think it's a very memorable piece. I'd buy it for a "feminist" I know who enjoys rather shocking representations of the female form.

Edmundo's? Agreeing with Brad. As an added thought... I have seen countryside and small town photographs from the 1950s that had that odd alpine-shaped roof, which made me wonder if the German/Swiss/etc. post-ware immigrations had an influence.

Never thought of it being a tourist piece. Seems a little too thought out to me to be as such, of course, I could be completely off and you could be right.
I'm feeling Peru or something like that for the subject / landscape. The collection it came from was from what i understand to have been an art fair collection. lots of indy artists etc...

It did to me as well. I've looked up a lot of stuff on the artist and this nude is not of the style he's known for yet uses his signature technique on masonite.

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

You know what, Gater... ummm... Mr. Tail? :joyful:
I've never known of an artist, bigtime or smalltime, who at least once didn't do something totally outside his/her "thing", including myself.
