I will talk about my police service, the bits I'm allowed to without a problem but my military service is a no no.

The former British Government is/was trying to prosecute former military servicemen for alleged crimes against terrorists 40-50 years ago.

The new bloke Boris is putting an end to it but if the loser last week had got in he would be jailing lots of people for hurting his beloved terrorists friends.

Not much into Christmas this year, and didn't decorate or even dig out my 25-30 German nutcrackers (and way too many other nutcracker ornaments, etc.), but just couldn't resist this handsome Viking, who arrived today:

Carnelian beads, rose gold clasp, early 20th C. I thought they might be amber in the dimness of the charity shop cabinet, but even not, they were worth two pounds.

And a present from a friend who knows my owlish hoarding. She also does charity shops, Hoot is 1970s.

I saw that! Isn't he adorable? I have owl ornaments all over my tree. And family members own and run a bird of prey centre. I once visited their old house, which had what I thought was a large garden ornament. Until it moved and opened its copper eyes. A European eagle owl, bit bigger than that wee baby.

    Hi,
One year when I was buying live trees my wife damn near died. She was starting to put ornaments on the tree when a big furry moth flew out. She was screaming and wanted to throw the tree out of the house. Every year after that I had to wash the tree outside before I brought in.

Greg that reminds me of the movie Christmas Vacation where they find a squirrel in the tree. That movie cracks me up, having said that I do not like bugs and I do not want a squirrel in my place either.

Just found these in house I finished clearing today, bakelite round pin electrical adapters, still being used with round pin appliances.
The UK changed from round pin to square pins in 1947

Round pin electric blanket, hairdryer and heater were in the bedroom.

    Bawdy risque British seaside souvenir.

Apparently these have soared in value as they are non PC and too sexist to sell now.

I'd rather the moth than the squirrel. They're easier to get rid of, cause less damage, and don't roll acorns around in my attic at two in the morning.

We have a screech owl house in our yard but no takers yet. Though I know they are around, I hear them especially in the summer. We do have loads of great horned owls, I hear them calling back and forth all year long :)
