I need to figure out a lampshade for this turn-of-the-century french empire lamp.

    How would I attach it?

What shape do you think would flatter the lamp?

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

    That is so beautiful!

I have bought some very simple little shades before that have a thingie that fits right on the lightbulb. I would tend to like a very simple one for such a gorgeous piece. Not very authentic, but very pleasing to minimalist me.

Simplest is a bulb clip on though not in keeping with design but...who will see that?

    Something tapered with many panels?

Take it directly to Lamps R Us - I spent soooo much time waiting for the right shade to come along for random lamps, but they really helped me with the actual fit and ratio of lamp to shade, which took a lot of adjustments to the actual harp, etc.

    Just my two cents! :)

    It's gorgeous!

    Quit 'harping' on this. ;)

...of which I don't see that fitting on the socket...
Not that it couldn't be added but needs to have some age to match.

I'm not great with shades, I have a bunch and find it easiest to try a few for size, shape etc before I can decide. I think Brad's suggestion looks like it would be beautiful with it.

I have to stop looking at lamps, I keep dragging them home and don't really need anymore but some are just so wonderful!

You can replace the top and add a harp , Im not sure that a clip on comes in the size youd need for these . I like Brad's suggestion , and I love the light gold lined shades produce , very soft and flattering . I agree with Scouts , take it with you to a shade store and try them on there , its so much easier ! Ive got two darling little pottery lamps that Ive been trying to "shade " for a while now , and of course the ONLY ones I found that fit are $42 apiece ! The lamps were only $7.50 , so I just cant bring myself to take the leap !

    OMG!!!
Another reason I need to 'Run Away!' (MP) when I see them!!!
No doubt I have some that are quite cool 50s and similar including kitschy ones such as bowling pins and those that attempted to consume all the sand in the Sahara to make the glass globes for them from the 60s. ;)
Problem #1...... One of my storage units is across the alley from GW. :)

Try reasoning out that those 2 'darlings', that you love, have ONLY cost you 45.75 each and are irreplaceable. :)

    Hi,
I had two 50s crystal lamps. Looked for years trying on many shades. Finally found two which fit perfectly except they had tiny plastic beads hanging around the bottom edge. I bought them and when I went to cut the beads off, my wifey freaked out. So I have the lamps with perfect shades except they have dangling plastic beads around. She loves them, I hate them. I swear the minute she dies, I am cutting off those beads.:vamp:
