When I finish researching something I think should be shared with other people having similar interests, I'll publish something about it on the web, or in a magazine, sometimes both. Here are two magazine articles that came out this week:

Interesting reading and well written! Thanks for sharing!

It has occurred to me that you and I might possibly share some acquaintances. I had been doing archaeology (avocational) in Fairfax County at times so history is a big part of that. I've never been involved with anything to do with arms but there are lots of folks with an interest that I've come across. Sadly one just passed:(.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Thanks and Nice articles and nice informative video!! Husband even watched it!! Near the end you were saying about still working on how the cannons wound up at Ft. Ticonderoga......Husband (Ret. US History teacher) was saying that, that fort changed hands several times among the Americans, British and French! Yikes! But that probably has something to do with how those puppies got there.....just can't imagine lugging them around back in the eighteen hundreds!!!!! IMHO!!

We probably both know some folks in the Northern Va Relic Hunter's Assn. which runs or ran the annual Civil War relic show. I've never joined since I'm not a metal-detector type, but I rented tables at their shows when I had smaller relics to sell off. Lewis Leigh is one of the few I run into regularly.

I'm not sure I'd know too many relic hunters though I've met a few. As a general rule archaeologist aren't keen on metal detecting or relic hunting. They tend to dig holes tearing up the stratigraphy and carry off things that would help interpret the site. I do bump into history buffs though.

I remember sitting around the lunch table with a bunch of archaeology folks and all the ex-military guys were discussing armory, guns, ships etc. I felt like I'd landed in an unknown universe. I think it was C.K. Gailey, Mike Johnson, C.D. Cox and Rich Eilers that time, all involved in archaeology. There are a bunch more.
