Well, I like it, but doubtful I'd ever be able to buy it - if I did own it, would sell immediately and happily retire...

But if you didn't know who painted it - would you even look twice at it? I just think it's ridiculous.

This was my feeling at first. I have come to have a deep appreciation for this artist's work. You can not judge this from a photograph. You have to get up close and personal. I don't know how to explain it any differently. Of course I can never buy this but am pleased that I can see this artist's work in major museums. ;)

Eh, I like a lot of modern art, including this artist's work (have you seen one in person?), though I'd probably prefer a Morris Louis - but do fully understand others feeling different...

Unfamiliar with the artist on that green piece, but doubt I'd like it any better in person. Do feel the same as Brad, when viewing abstract pieces by certain artists, they inexplicably evoke an emotional response, and I find them quite wonderful...

    KOT LOL I'll fix that:eek:

I remember wandering around the MOMA and finding that some things left me puzzled at what they were thinking and why it made it to a museum while others were interesting, thought provoking or moving.

Sometimes it just takes sitting and relaxing, not paying attention to outside distractions, to discern something in a piece. :)
    Get nothing? That's ok. :)

You know , its funny really but my taste went from bucolic landscapes in gilded frames , portraits , etc to much more contemporary " modern " style without my even realizing it was happening ! I just find modern/contemporary art more soothing to my eyes now , if that makes sense ? The older I get , the less fussy I like things to be . Wich kinda sucks as I have a whole lot of fussy stuff !

If found in a storage locker, it would be trashed with no thought of 'looking it up'.

In art school, we use to say who ever had the gift for creating a good line of "cosmic bulls**t usually made it into the museum.

They are predicting that will go to $40mil.
