Yeah, is at least in the middle market for victorian era furniture, is for where i am in Charlotte, guessing $100-150 or so here on a good day.
Now, if it has a name attached like say....Herter, Belter, etc, that's a totally different matter, even here where victorian is not a big seller.

I'm located near Philadelphia, if that helps.

All that's left of a possible maker label, are four nails that secured it.
Seems like it was a pretty serious label to require a nail in each corner to secure it.
Was that specific to a maker, or common back then?

It's actually quite uncommon. Only a minority of Victorian furniture that has any kind of label.

wow, so that might be something I could use to possibly narrow down who made it?

No, probably not, your table, more correctly called a "center" table was a middle market machine built furniture for the general public. Literally millions were produced & the possible left over marking was more likely done by a retail outlet that sold the table, not made it.
If you had a "name" brand table like say Herter Bros of that era, you'd know it, the folks who sold it to you would know, and we would know too!
Makers mark, branded into most herter furniture

Center Table, Herter, at the White House, Built for Julia Grant 1875

This rosewood center table with marquetry inlays of satinwood, holly, and boxwood was made by Herter Brothers of New York. There are carved lion heads on the legs. First Lady Julia Grant commissioned Herter Brothers to redecorate the Red Room in 1875.

    Och ye beauty!

Yes, as James intimated it will be nearly impossible to come up with a maker. And yes, if your table was like the Herter table you'd be in a whole different ballgame. As it is, the absence of a label on your table doesn't really matter; it's a mid-market table with a nice level of craftsmanship. Reading back over this thread, it looks like its worth maybe $100-$300 depending on where you try to sell it and under what circumstances. It's unlikely to be worth more until the whole brown furniture market recovers, whenever that is.

Thank for the information, it sure seems like a branded makers mark like that would be easy to spot. There is nothing like that on this table.

I'm just starting out with antiques and auctions. This particular auction I participated in was for items at an antique shop. Other ones were residential, estate auctions. I have expected just the auction house staff to be at the pick up locations only, but the owners are there. If I felt more comfortable I would ask questions, but I wouldn't want to hold other people up from their pick ups.
