Does anyone know who manufactured this clock? The movement is marked FC at left, 6-9 near center, and 1845 at bottom (but not believed to be a date, I found another movement online with same FC mark, but number at bottom was something like 2245, so think it may be something like a serial #).

Here is a comparable, looks to be the same clock with a different finish:

Unfortunately, they don't state or know the manufacturer. They do estimate the age as 1800 to 1830.

    Thanks! ... Dave

It is French, I'd agree with Empire period, or a bit later, the initals are the movement maker, 6.9 is the pendulum length in French inches (about the same as British inches) and the other number is the serial number. The case is gilt and patinated bronze and the maker is pretty well irrelevant. I assume you have taken the bell off to show the movement.

Usually when these appear in antique shops they have been tarted up and refinished, with madly high prices. This one appear to be in untouched condition.

The clock market seems to very depressed at present but these early French clocks are usually saleable due to their general elegance and quality.

Thanks afantiques - yes, I have the bell sitting on my desk here pending completion of pictures. We still see the interest in clocks, but have noticed as well the soft market. Nice comparables GG - quite curious, the 2nd one is missing the center piece of trim on the front of the base at center, just as ours is (although they've done a nice job of hiding the holes).

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Well, the one on Pintrest (LiveAuctioneers) most definitely looks like her wrist has been broken and repaired.....OUCH!!!!!

That's a shame. Not surprised that stuff happens over some 2 centuries! I haven't weighed ours yet, but it is VERY heavy (I'll guess 30 pounds or so).
