Well, it was framed in the Philippines, at least. Hard to know if the photo was taken there, though...

Does the foliage look typical of the Philippines? I thought theirs might be more tropical than that, but don't really know.

Maybe not but her clothes seemed to concur this. :)

Seems to me they had their house photographed and had that framed.

Might be Fort Mills as it had tramline network and there appears to be rails in front of the bungalows.

Those look like storm window shades. Monsoons?

After my previous post I did find some photos with deciduous trees from the Philippines...

No question at all that it's Philippines, typical for 1950s.
But which of the 2000 inhabited islands would be a tiny bit tougher. Probably Manila.

Here's an account of Corregidor (aka Ft. Mills) officer's housing from a fellow who lived there from the 1930s on. Fellow explains how junior officers got houses without fireplaces and chimneys, just stoves and pipes (as your bungalows do.) There's also a photograph of the front steps of a ruined housing unit for comparison.

If it was framed in the Philippines, it was taken there. Could be from the old Clark AFB.

I would say it is NOT USA military housing. It is civilian.

Why would it not be Officers housing? I lived in the Canal Zone for 2 Yrs. and a lot of the Officers housing look similar to that house.

I think because of the stove pipe not an actual chimney.
A chimney to build and maintain is more expensive.

I would think a craftsman bungalow would be a very unusual type of civilian housing to find in the Philippines.

Yes, but not on a military base at that time.

Certainly could be a number of sites in the Philippines. The only clues are timeframe of craftsman construction, trolley line and terrain which is slightly hilly. Officers' housing at Clark Air Base (formerly Ft. Stotsenburg) was completed in 1904 which would seem a bit early for this type of housing (confirmed by vintage photographs on internet) and, given its purpose, assume terrain of air force base flat.
