I missed THAT!!!!

 

Heres one not so old from today:

 

Slide rules? Never had one. But I did additions and multiplications backwards since the 1st grade. They thought I was backwards. I managed to pass the required Alg. Geometry and Trig. but don’t ask me anything about them.

I envy a friend who was a whiz and got a reprimand for a cop in court back in the 70s.. The cop clocked him at 80 mph. Bob went back to the location, measured everything in feet. In court he asked the cop to confirm that his cruiser was parked behind X sign when Bob went by. Then he pulled out and stopped Bob at Y intersection. Taking out his slide rule he showed the judge that the cop would have to average 125 MPH to catch up with Bob.

The cop got a good “talking to” and of course Bob got off scot free.

 

An area of collecting that I never would hsve considered - old slide rules! Some of these look pretty interesting. I do remember them but never learned to use one.

 

Is this something you're going to pursue now then?

 

Not planning to, no.
