Featured Queen Anne style chairs

    Look like around 1900 or so. Anyone able id origin of these...was thinking possibly Irish. Kind of distinctive seat profile

    Lovely ! Those sure look earlier to me,certainly looks like wood worms have nibbled at them. Id guess 1800 rather than 1900.

    The ball & claw feet are Chippendale but the top/splat is Queen Anne-ish so could be late victorian, they did that kind of thing a lot,

    More like 1870s-80s I would think.

    lloyd249 it's not hoarding if it's valuable

    ditto what they all said , very nice chairs they have that WOW effect :jawdrop: and if not to much to ask could you take pics (front back construction of each chair ) so I/we can see their beauty .

    yes, they have a nice looking patina, but believe James is correct, late Vic, possibly Edwardian. don't have a closer pic of the construction at the moment. They've been nicely restored and the bugs have helped give them some faux authenticity. I had an Irish table with provenance that had all of the carved elements on these chairs, the profile of the back profile is a very close match to some dutch marquetry chairs I have.

    Yes, very attractive chairs, the 2 distinct styles in the same piece does kinda ID them as victorian era.

    I am guessing but I'd say they were trying to imitate a "compass" seat which was very popular in the 18th century, it is also an extremely difficult build with hand tools, only master chair makers apply please.
