Large clear, cut glass vase. Any hope of recognizing the maker? Measures 12" high, weighs 5.5 lbs. Thanks.

Your vase is American Brilliant cut glass. I don't believe that this piece is from the Flower Period of the American Brilliant Period which started around 1917. The cutting on the rim would date this piece earlier than 1917. I would look on the base and see if you can't come up with a signature. It would be very difficult to find a glass house and pattern without this. Beautiful piece!

Thank you Ez. I appreciate you taking a look!

No signature on this, but glad to hear it might even be earlier than 1917. I love older things! I was thinking 1960's...lol! Either way, I think it might be a keeper for long stemmed flowers. Someone just gave me a big bunch of unruly sunflowers out of their garden and this vase (due mostly to weight) is containing them perfectly, not tippy at all.

Sunflowers sound perfect for it. It's a beautiful vase!

Great, glad that I could help. I love sunflowers, but hate the pollen that comes with them. Be careful where you place the vase with the pollen, you could have a big mess on your hands.

Too late! Pollen is everywhere, lol! Luckily just brushes off the table its sitting on, but I think in a few days will need to compost the flowers.

    Hi,
Too late now but when I do a vase with sunflowers, I spray the heads with cheap hair spray. No pollen. No expensive stuff with all kinds of things to make your hair look better. Cheap hairspray for flowers and flying bugs like wasps. Spray them and they fall wings glued together step on them and into the trash, you use expensive they fly at you and sting.lololo

As some of you may remember, I have a slight distaste for sunflowers except on magazine covers in someone else's room. However, I will try Greg's trick on Queen Anne's Lace, which I absolutely Love, but which shed like crazy. I had a clutch of them last year in a big green glass vase with lemon-colored lillies! Lovely!
