What this means to dealers and collectors is that before sending trench art anywhere they need to get familiar with the many rules applicable to sale, transfer, transportation of ammunition, for example you cannot ship it to an individual in New York, it has to go to a federally-licensed dealer, in just one example that comes to mind.

I sold a WWI piece on ebay last year, a shell casing that had been made into a petrol lighter.
    Buyer was in Canada.
On the customs label I put "Trench Art"
At the post office I was asked what trench art was, I told her that it was a WWI old ammo shell casing that had been made into a lighter, it had no fuel and was not live and was probably 100 years old.
They refused to handle it. stating ammo and lighters were banned by Air Carriers.
I removed the customs label and put another on it and put "Metal Artwork", I then took it to another post office and off it went, arriving in Canada 6 days later.

Hey listen, I feel so much safer now, you just never know when some terrorist might sneak up and whack you with one of those scary things, or even drop one on your toe. Ouch! No wonder the gummint has decided to regulate that stuff.

The zero intelligence crowd will impose their zero tolerance rules everywhere

Any dissenting opinions posted here will be cataloged for actions to be taken when the new rules against such are implemented

Remember the eBay brick and mortars? I was next door one day when a woman brought in something like... they called the bomb squad. It was very dramatic. Need I say more???

There are so many more convenient ways to get in trouble with the law than hurting anyone with an engraved bullet!

It just completely misses the point of trench art - a soldier, or someone close to a soldier, spent hours of time fashioning something very ordinary/functional/deadly into a thing of beauty.

    Exactly!!!!
I will hopefully, soon, unearth the beautiful German POW mortar shell I have.

For now, here's a recent gift to me. Possibly Korean era, maybe early Vietnam not necessarily POW made.
