Any ideas often these stamps on a ring please?
I'm suspicious it's gold plated and not gold but before I contact the seller does anyone recognise them?. Can't get a good pic.
It also has a stamp that says CP but could be GP:mad: not 9ct.
I just thought it possibly odd that it's got these 'hallmarks' if it's GP. Possibly another mark before it but too worn if it is.
Not an expensive ring at all but I'll return if it's GP.
I've acid tested but only on a stone not filed in case I need to return and does test as 9ct.
    Thankyou

Very close but there is definitely a downsweep on the cross piece rather than being horizontal.
Very impressed you found anything Close though! Thankyou.

Ah, Bakersgma, you are brilliant. Thankyou.
But....does that mean this is likely gold over silver or it could be 9ct as I've seen gold often has the same stamps as silver for date letters etc.
At least it's been assayed for something and isn't total scrap!

Edit, just tested it for silver and no reaction. Didn't file though so just surface.

Those import and date marks are used for both metals. There does not appear to be a gold or silver fineness mark among what you've shown us?

It looks like a faint 3rd punch on the left.

Can you show the front of the ring?

There is a ghost of a mark to the left of the triangle but that's it. You can just see it on the photo but either very worn or a Friday afternoon hallmark. If the former then a greater possibility of it being gold I suppose as otherwise it would be worn to the base metal.

Ah,yes. The faint edge of another cartouche. But I can't see what's inside.

It's probably true that this ring has never been worn much, but you don't often see otherwise well made rings using GP for the shank as it gets crummy looking quickly with regular wear. It is not uncommon to find rings of lower karat gold set with glass stones from the days when gold was not so pricey as it is now. All those marks also argue for gold.

Where is the stamp that says either CP or GP?

It's not different. It's a square with the corners knocked off. Gold mark.
