@Savannah 1954 This is such a sweet portrait!
Back then high society girls were taught to draw and many made portraits of their relatives or friends, landscapes, flowers and so on. Maybe Marillon was one of them;)

Coral is always the rage, for anyone in their right mind.
I know! It is mostly done in Slavonia, a part of Croatia near the Hungarian border.

The two girls in identical dresses from 1810 definitely have what in the 60s would have been called a pixie cut.

JMHO, but I wouldn't call this a sketch. A sketch is done loosely and quickly. This is a well executed drawing done with care :)

So what has been the consensus? The frame looks old but the back looks new. 99F8BE74-5C3D-4C9E-ADC0-2AE8BD59EEBD.jpeg A493B6D8-2231-4C64-AF7D-24243ACDBDDF.jpeg

Are we clear the work is an original & not a print of some type? Encouraging to find another Morillon who is an artist, but time period seems off. For no good reason really, my impression of the stones in the cross she is wearing is that they are marcasites, not diamonds. Marcasite is particularly popular in France. another tiny clue to French origin.

My main talent is for giving the poorly founded impression that I am so smart. :)

Maullon certainly could be the name. I can’t find any artist with that name but it is still an option. Morillon seems a bit more likely because there appears to be a . Above the i.
