Welsh Dresser

    Can anyone give me information about this dresser? Was told it was from about mid. 1850's.

    hello and welcome to the board.
    Can I ask where you are located.

    From an American point of view.
    I see oak, not as early as 1850. Maybe early 1900s.

    Wait for other furniture people.

    Yeah, agrees, I don't think 1850 and guesses this is the DREADED WORD! revival piece, although i have no idea why some people think that.
    Some call them welsh cupboard, pewter cupboard, plate cupboard, etc all the same thing really.
    The reason I'd say revival is, it's oak and it has cupboard doors on upper half where it should be all plate racks and cupboard doors on bottom half.
    The chippendale pulls add to revival feel
    Kinda out of my area of interest though, wait for others to post.

    Like Cluttered said, early 20th century oak. Thinking 1920-40 or so. A functional piece; not sure it's "historically correct" enough to qualify as any type of revival, more a kind of cut and paste of a few older elements. "Traditional" might be more accurate.
