I have these two flowers with rotating petals and would like to find out what was their original purpose.
If you have any ideas please share.

Makanudo, do not take my word for it but . . . they remind me of (decorative) roof snow (ice) stops "snow guards" for roofs and/or gutters to prevent/break up large sheets of snow or ice as it halfway melts and "falls/slides" off of a roof.

The link below is showing "modern" ones, but I remember seeing "decorative" ones on old slate roofs. ;)

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I think that Gila has covered a lot of the possibilities! I don't know what they are but was thinking the bottom hook on each would be for hanging something.

I think they are decorative for wrought iron work/fencing/balconies and it appears to me the hooks were added later for whatever use.
The flowers are bolted on and probably spin just because they can. Could be that there were options for different types of flowers to be used on them.
I would grab them too if the right price. :)

It looks like the hooks are on the side? If that's true, seems to me they wouldn't be very useful if the flowers were hung against a wall.

The flowers could still face out but they would be quite odd upside down......methinks.

I think they are curtain tiebacks .

I believe they are the ends for swing out curtain rods. The rods are hollow and these are shoved into the ends.

4" x 8.5" seems pretty large for finials and to not be left/rights seems odd for that as well.

I think they look like something that was made to be outside., being roughly made and covered with protective black paint
