The markings were a bit unclear so I couldn't figure them out except "Royal Semi-porcelain WEDGWOOD" ...... 'made in england' ... or just 'England'.. can't remember..

Could you post a picture of the mark? I suspect this is made by a different Wedgwood than the more famous Josiah. I suspect it might be Wedgwood & Co.

This looks similar to Wedgwood's Flow Blue "Roma." Flow blue was popular early in the 1900's.

I agree, "Roma." Here is a "Roma" platter that looks identical to the platter the tureen is on.

There's also a pic of the mark. Like S-I-S said by Wedgwood & Co. and not Josiah Wedgwood.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I don't know anything about it but the Replacements site indicates circa 1870.

It's often the style of the maker's mark that will clue you in to a date range. Replacements lists this pattern as discontinued, 1870- without any end date. Popular patterns were often produced for many years. If you have the maker's mark you may be able to zero in on a date range for yours.

Welllll, Wedgwood & Co. used a good 18 backstamps during their time. The mark on the platter link I posted is definitely 1900 and later because it has "Ltd" in the company name. "Ltd" was added to their name in 1900. Here is a page of some of their backstamps with timeframes.

If you're on Facebook, there is a British Pottery and Porcelain collectors page. Those folks are fantastic.

Exact age isn't really going to matter. If you're selling it will sell based on the pattern and condition.
