Anybody have any idea of what this is or what its value could be? This is an old lock jewelry box made of completely ivory, and it is hand carved with dragons all over which leads me to believe this is chinese, I cannot find this anywhere online and I was wondering if anyone could help with what it is

There are also no markings or any stamps on this.

You can't sell it, so it's not pertinent, but I'd like to see really good photos. French ivory mimics the schreger lines in real ivory, but a good photo would help. Yours are pixilated for some reason.

Remember that sometimes items like this can be better found in books....than online !
    It's very interesting !

The decoration is Chinese for sure. The material looks like ivory, but it's hard to tell from here. These can be sold, but you'd need documentation; otherwise no auction house will touch it.

The feet look like wood to me. I'm not an expert, but don't the hinges look fairly recent?

Can you take photos that aren't fuzzy on details? The legs look like the same material, but just too hard to see.

"French Ivory" is a fancy name for PLASTIC, just so you know. Specifically, celluloid.

I'm seeing a lot of thick, chunky pieces here. Given that ivory is famous for being able to be cut paper-thin...I'm thinking that this may be celluloid.

You might have better luck taking photos on a neutral background like a medium gray. The camera sees the black of the background and picks an exposure that is too bright to pick up the details in the carving. Also, it looks quite dirty, maybe go over it with a very soft toothbrush to dislodge andy loose dirt?

I would suggest using cotton balls to clean the carving.

Yes, it's plastic, but the pieces I've seen that have the designation "French Ivory" have imitation Schreger lines. I have a vanity set made from French Ivory. I think OP should come back with better photos.
