Inherited from a relative who owned in the family for 80 plus years.

I believe it may be Edwardian but unsure on era and also value.

It appears to have been recovered at some point and unknown if the original material is underneath?

Have looked but cannot see any markings.

Have attached some pics. Can anybody help?

I've never heard of such a thing before.

It's lovely, but it's not a "nursing chair" (although it may have been used as one in the family).

Someone like Brad will be able to help with what it's called, but a nursing chair is usually is a rocker, and it has arms.

For a while now people have confusing a nursing chair with a sewing chair - that is perhaps what you are seeing on Google.
Imagine yourself nursing a baby in a chair with no arms - it would be very uncomfortable. And sitting in straight back chair would make it worse.

That rules out dining chair I think. LOL
I think what you may have is a sewing chair - for when the lady of the house did her mending and needlework.

Regardless, it is a beauty, and others will be able to help with style and age.

In the pic I can just see the side table so gives out an idea as to size, definitely not for dining on!

Be interested to know more about it as its very ornate.

That does seem short for a woman trying to sit down and, especially, get up with a baby.
Of course not all that long ago most women were short compared to today. Right?
Still an effort depending upon the child's age/size.
After (and before) the birth her back isn't happy either right ladies? :)

Different countries have different definitions of what a Nursing Chair is.
OP is in the UK but it is not a Nursing Chair.
I would say its a dining chair that has been modified and the legs shortened.

These are examples of Nursing chairs.

It doesn't look like it has been modified.
