hi. I hope someone might be able to help us. We know nothing about the attached vase and hoped someone might be able to help us identify it and give some idea of value. Thanks in advance! image.png

Hi Jenny wren, Are there any maker's marks on the bottom?
My first guess would be Italian. A better, well lit pic would probably help people figure it out. A picture of the bottom, even if unmarked is always advised, too. There are clues to origin and maker, even from an unmarked piece of pottery.

Is it that the picture cuts off the upper part or does it have some kind of domed lid on it?

Welcome, Jenny wren! Might be majolica. We do need those better pics.

The more I look at it, I'm starting to get an Austrian vibe, too. LOL.

It looks like there's an one of those lustre spaniel figurines on each side of the vase.

They do look like "spaniel figurines" beside the vase, but they aren't connected to it (part of it), are they?

Looks majolica to me. More photos are needed: there's repros coming out of China.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Doesn't look like they are.....some space between objects......

Hi, Thanks for all the replies!

I'm sorry I know it wasn't the best photo. Will be able to get a better one but not until Monday as I don't have the vase with me. The photo does cut off at the top but its an open vase with no domed lid. The figurines on the sides are not connected to it. (You are right in that they are a pair of copper lustre Staffordshire Spaniel figurines either side!!). I attach a picture of the bottom of the vase - sorry I probably should have posted that at the same time.

    Thanks again!

My vote is continental majolica - German or Austrian. I'm assuming there are no other manufacturer marks. You can search "german majolica vase" or "austria majolica vase" to get comparable prices. Size, condition, and decoration should be compared. It's unlikely you'll find the actual vase in searching. Looks like a nice piece to me - not exceptional - but a nice example of the type.

Thanks so much for your comments. You've definitely pointed us in the right direction now as we were clueless on this one!
