Featured help with origin of carved wood boat

    hi folks

    does any one know where this boat may have come from

    its not brilliant but was only £2

    i thought maybe asian, but cant find any like it

    measure 8 inches

    any thought appreciated

    Yeah could be, that was my thoughts as well

    All the Asian ones I've seen are the more old traditional style, can't find one like this

    My 1st thought was prisoner art...... but ?

    it's a mystery to me........but house boat sounds good !!
    I like the way the windows are made to open and shut.......kinda what you'd see on a toy made for children........

    Looks like the houseboats of Srinagar, Kashmir. Can't remember the name of the lake right now, but it was a popular holiday destination before the political unrest.

    likely made in the same village by the same family.....maybe even the same guy...
    250 us............too rich for my blood !!!!!!!!!!!

    Made of teak, 100 years plus. Other woods will be less, pulled out and inspected every 5 years, repaired if needed, 100 years plus. Cared for wooden boats can outlast fibreglass ones.

    I have cut up and burned a 100 year old oak Thames barge. What doomed it was that it was only mostly watertight. Only some of the bottom was rotten, so in theory an oak boat could do more than 100 years.
