Here's a Forbes list of most expensive gemstones (carat for carat) and sapphire isn't even on the list. (About half of them I've never heard of.)

Isn't it odd that so many gemstones involve aluminum oxides?

I don't know about anyone's around or if he/she shall answer, but my answer is a big fat NO!

There are many billionaires in the world but IMHO it's not a wise investment to take a chance on it increasing, or even holding, it's value. The De Beers monopoly is over but diamonds are still really too plentiful. Gold's a better investment.

Thanks for that site MOS. Very interesting. Never heard of most, and certainly didn't think there was anything worth one million per carat. Glad the ladies I knew didn't know it existed.

 

It IS most definitely lovely, but what the heck good is it.....can't wear it as a ring!!!
