10 inches seems way too long for a tool to cut off the excess crust dough from a round item like a pie. Whatever it's for, this would be more appropriate for straight line use. I assume the round piece turns on the metal axle without too much force? How sharp are the edges of the round piece?

Which reminds me: an ice cream distributor at a cafe i worked in used a rubber mallet to loosen ice in the freezer. Brilliant! Way better than chipping away at it with random utensils :)

The end piece does rotate and it’s kinda sharp.

I would not have thought of such a use, Scout, but the only question I have now for Beasley is how heavy the round part is?

It’s aluminum and a bit fragile and lightweight. I think the ice would break it. But... great idea!!!

I think the newer ones use just a heavier round disk. Not sure which end was used on the oldies.

You would NOT want to be bonked from either end, @blooey!

My husband thought it was maybe a tool to roll porch screen into its frame.

He's welcome to try it! My dad hijacked (and ruined) many of my mom's kitchen tools "working things out" in the garage.

Old Tap-Icer - innocuous little thing that becomes a vicious beast when some drunken idiot smacks it on one of your bony parts...
