Featured Brooch, silver. Strange attachment of stones.

    Hmm those look like old mine cut diamonds. I bet the foil behind them tarnished.

    Yes, the stones do not shine, they are transparent.

    Georgian Black dot paste that's had a rough time of it? They do look very clear, I wouldn't be surprised if they came up positive.

    Agree.

    It is a nice brooch, but the silver looks cast instead of hammered from a sheet of silver. If I am seeing it right, it is not as old as it would like to make us think it is.
    I also don't like the gaps in between stones and settings, that is usually not a good sign.

    I'd like better eyes on this to confirm or deny my observations, so tagging @kyratango and @Dessert58 .:happy:

    Lovely brooch!
    Looks like paste with silver foil back. To me it looks old, late Georgian, start of Victorian is what I would say

    Is the gold loop a repair? If those stones are paste, why put a gold repair on it? bwdik?

    easy to work with on a bench, available, and the brooch is silver..
