IMG_6901 copy.jpeg IMG_6887 copy.jpeg IMG_6901 copy.jpeg IMG_6887 copy.jpeg Hello - Thanks for your help in advance....I am an amateur when it comes to silver markings and wanted to see if you can help - two boxes in question.

One is a hinged lid repousse silver 925 box with marking of a lion and a "R" letter
The other has a crystal base, smaller and the markings are on the repousse lid that is similar in the other hinged box and there are letters: G.L - Anchor - Lion and small letter "g".
    Thanks again!

We need a better shot of the marks, your photo is VERY small :)

Plus it helps to show the whole piece as well as the marks.

G.L seems to be the mark for George Loveridge
The anchor is the Birmingham mark
'g' is the year letter for 1906

It looks like you tried to enlarge the original, small files which doesn't help. I'm sorry, but they really are not good. Please, next time take larger photos. You can post photos up to 1 MB. Plus we also need to see what the whole items look like. Help us to help you!

Make sure you are clicking on FULL IMAGE when loading. I'll repost these two photos for you. Pretty box. So 3-4 inches wide?

Sounds like you have a lead on the maker, but here is this one at full image as well.

Marote has the correct maker and date for the lid of the glass box, but you need to find the full set of hallmarks for the hinged box, they'll be somewhere on the base piece, three or four, suspect it may be Birmingham 1866, in which case there will be four...
