A large collection of Georgian air twist wine glasses went to auction. I purchased a lot of them that also included this tossed in. Badly damaged at top but was a nice thing. It’s pretty well made, some fancy work. I’m guessing it’s 19th century or possibly older. Could be wrong I suppose. 11” tall. Any ideas on the where and when? 869030D1-E5CE-431B-8531-04D40C6C6237.jpeg 1E298D74-08A5-49FD-BC80-93972FD75070.jpeg DEE45112-B2DE-4CC8-AA59-4313B4CF19D1.jpeg C9414F0B-EFCE-485D-87B5-5199194BBD0E.jpeg

Is it as greyish as it looks?

Maybe slightly but not super grey.

That can be an indication of age, Georgian glass tends to grey.

    What an interesting thing.
I'd have to guess 1830's New England. As to what glass house, that's gonna be a little harder.
I've seen this base on a few early Boston and Sandwich whale oil lamps but Sandwich candlesticks are very different than this one.

There were a bunch of nice early New England items in the estate. I can’t recall how much New England glass. I was kind of leaning towards this area and timeframe too but I’m not knowledgeable enough in this niche to know for sure.

I do always look for grey and probably because of your past advice. It seems enough of it wasn’t grey that I don’t rule out glass that isn’t from being that old though. The air twist stem glasses for example are surely early to mid 19th or older but not discernibly grey. I do always keep that in mind now though.

I do have a nice decanter from the Georgian era at the moment that is very grey.
