There are MANY other options available now than fee bay ! My walls are crammed with paintings too,but I also know when to let go of stuff . Otherwise Id be dangerously close to hoarder status ! Ive done okay with craigslist, you just have to be firm on how you conduct the transaction . I always meet in a safe place,I never meet at night,I refuse to go to bad areas,I only accept cash,if theres the LEAST bit of misgivings Im done with it. It can be a hassle, but I honestly can say 90% of my transactions have been fine.
I also feel like that I may have something worth $100,but I only paid $2,so if I get $50 its all good. As the old saying goes, somethings only worth what someones willing to pay for it. Too many get hung up on values of items to their detriment.

I too have recently come around to this way of thinking.....

My $ 1500 pole sold for $750....I get $ 685....and it cost me $225......sure I'm not thrilled.....but If I could do this all day , every day......Bazinga !!!!!

I think now is the time to invest and hold. At least for me. Potential buyers are too distracted by this chaotic world. I do have tons of items in the $20-50 range that I would love to part with, but none of that seems to sell.

Good advice, Johnny, that I should heed. Most of my items either I paid nothing for, or I bought them so long ago that I don't remember what I paid or it was negligible. Yet I do get hung up on the price I think things are worth... I really have to stop doing that....

Yes, I should heed the same advice too. Some things I just can't let go though.

Things quickly become sentimental to me. Especially when I trace down all the history myself or develop theories about a specific piece.

I have come to the conclusion that nothing is worth holding any more. I don't expect any kind of rebound in my lifetime. Maybe if you are 40 or younger, there is some hope. I am still holding on to many things that I have tucked away for retirement but will not hesitate to sell for whatever profit I can make when the time comes.

I can only hope that you see this get better in your lifetime......but I for one....am not holding my breath.....

Me neither. If you can use the tax write off it might be worth donating the lower dollar value stuff. I've been doing just that lately, to clear some of it out. I've also used some other bits as gifts instead of going out and buying something.
