Not all things I say. Share what you want to share. Also sometimes when you share things earmarked for ‘automatic re-sell’ it can complicate things. But yes in general share away :)

I have nothing to contribute to this thread but am blown away by the lovely things you all have found. What eyes you all have, what discerning taste.

That’s one hell of a ‘year ending’ find! Congratulations Brad!

I didn't find any great keepers but this McCoy ram vase bought for $15 sold on eboo for $125, works for me :)

Last minute gift to myself. Not my usual thrift store find. Came into my former shop as part of an estate sale. Not cheap but was able to purchase as-is at a significant discount from the going rate for such lamps. The lacquer coating is deteriorated and will need stripping. I am sure I have an appropriate old socket for this. Likely Austrian, circa 1900. Jewels are blue amber and green.

Love it, Brad.:) Will you show it once it is finished, with the light on?

Can do. Might be awhile. Started stripping the lacquer and it is not coming off easily. May have to put this on the back burner for now.

Love it. I've got a place already picked out, should the lamp become a burden to you....:)

I don't have anything elaborate to share, but am proud of:

    1. Chair I found with face on it that I shared with you guys
    2. Dovetail ammo and shackle crates I found and shared
    3. Sideboard that I shared at the beginning of the year

The old lacquer is putting up a fight eh? She'll be a beaut when she's finished. In the meantime she'll be a bear.

Late to the party— maybe I was subconsciously hoping the last days of 2024 would bless me (they did, but not with antiques)—-

found in an Oxfam in Morningside, Edinburgh for £10. I love these Staffordshire type ceramics but I’m no expert so I can’t date her, I’m only [mostly] convinced she’s Scottish.

    And Happy New Year everyone!

This came in today, a very rare Yemeni Bawsani style silver kohl bottle. The filigree decorations in between the wavy zigzag bands are nicknamed "whale and flower".
And someone insisted on being in the photos.:cat:

The Bawsanis are one of the well-known families of Yemeni Jewish silversmiths. The bottle isn't signed, so it could have been made by an apprentice who set up shop for himself, but the style is Bawsani.

What a cool bottle! I guess the attached stick is the applicator?
