Is this bisquit porcelain figure group 18th century Sevres? The depiction is "The grape eaters" after Francois Boucher. 30.jpg 31.jpg 32.jpg 50.jpg

There are differences between the link and your figures. But it sure captures a delectable moment!

yes i have noticed that every depiction of this group has slight variations, but that proves it is all hand work. This is a very well known figure group and some examples are in musea. Would realy like to know if it is 18th century. nice find anyway.

A beautiful piece, even with the missing grape in hand. A stunning artwork.

if you google : the grape eaters biscuit porcelain. you will see all the examples known. Here are the pair that belong together and it is 18th century and has the same seams on the jacket of the man as on my example. And the rockwork looks the same. https://www.christies.com/en/lot/lot-6041773

it is nice but i doubt after all that it is 18th century. In this profession i always say nothing is what it seems. And most of the time it is to good to be true.

Very true Hunt-It's a shame we don't find 5 to 15K treasures for lunch money every month.

well that's the other extreme. i just hope to find something that is what is is and can be dated acuratly . that's all. but i do find cool things and i like the research of it. Merry christmas to all and a fruitfull 2025 for antique hunting.

    I understand-you find interesting items,intriguing pieces that sometimes come with very hard questions-'is this ancient,Neolithic,Paleo,Bronze/Iron Age....what ?'
This kind of dating usually demands big,big brains using million dollar machines to evaluate said piece.
Authenticating the Sevres should be easy compared to some of the mysteries you present us with.IMHO The best way will be having several experts actually examine it 'hands on'. You might make appointments with some of them-everything's close in Europe when you take high-speed rail.
