Featured Art folks , any thoughts ?

Hi all. Picked up this little oil on board by Jon Houglum . Its 6x9 . I only glanced at it rather dismissively because goodwill doesnt let any art thru anymore. At least in N Fl ! but it caught my eye so I gave it a good look and thought its actually very well done . Didnt find much on the secondary market but that doesnt really matter. Its the first piece of real art Ive found in forever,and its beautiful. All input appreciated.

Those are my grandmas bed sheets she bought somewhere in the 80s ! She used them regularly,and Ive had them 20 years and use them regularly. They are SOOO soft ! I love them and they remind me of her .

What a fun find! Like the pops of turquoise. Appears he uses it a lot in his work.

Lovely piece Johnny,i would've bought it.
There's some really fine original art out there that's affordable.I surf thru Invaluable & Ebay for kicks-some goes thru the roof-some's ignored.

If it's a piece i'm over the moon nuts about-i'll pay up (if it's a 'keeper').
If a potential resale piece i get extremely tight-you just can't do enough in-depth research in crowded thrift,estate or flea mkt w/ a phone.

 

I could swear somewhere in my linen closet, I have a linen that looks so similar that I purchased at an estate sale. I will have a look later on and see if I can locate it.

Does the sheet have the tag on who made it? Was it Dan River by chance??

Nice little painting. Confidently done - the sense of light & color are right. I myself have a weakness for the often cast aside oil paintings . . . they all tell a story of a place and time by folks of the past.

 

If they had a tag its long gone. Those things have seen the spin cycle a million times ! Just goes to show you how far quality has sunk over the years. They still look good and are still going strong. If I had to guess Id say she got them from Spiegel catalogue . She Loved her some Spiegel !

 

I wish Id have gotten all of her linens Nana . My grandma still ironed her sheets until a few years before she died . I used to tell her "Lita,even gay men dont iron anymore!" and she'd snap back "I dont like to hear such talk,they cant help it " !

 

Hey, I still iron pillowcases! Drives me nuts if they are wrinkled….plus ironing is like kneading bread, very relaxing….
