Seeking Opinion about a LANVIN engraved Mother and Daughter (child) pendant

Discussion in 'Jewelry' started by Anita from Pooraka, Dec 14, 2024.

  1. Hello everyone from a very hot and windy South Australia.
I have come across and of course bought a very solid Pendant supposed to be a LANVIN and although it has the original style of the Mother and daughter design with the decorated and slightly raised platform that they stand on I'm not a 100% sure if it is or not the real thing.
My research has brought up a range of designs that are only single sided and I have not found anywhere the solid one.
What do people think? Is it real and? Is it fake and why?
    Weighs approx.27g or 0.95oz,
    Stands approx. (H) 3.8cm (1.5in) (not including bail) x 1cm 0.4in (W) x 3cm (1.18in) across.
    Bail is approx. 1cm (0.4in) (L) x 0.4cm (0.16in) (W) x 0.2cm Thick

Appreciate any comments from the collective knowledge here.
    regards Anita

It's supposed to be a fob seal, isn't it? I'd be concerned that the logos don't match.

  3. Yes Debora I was wondering about that as well. the base engraving reminds me of the Paris Lanvin and the bail engraving reminds me of the Lanvin Germany.

Not sure what you mean by "the Paris Lanvin" and "the Lanvin Germany."

There is no engraving... the bail was stamped and the lettering on the base was in the mold casting of the whole piece.

You are right, Lanvin Germany generally uses a different font from Lanvin Paris. The German Lanvin font is 'sans serif'.
The members who have replied so far are in North America, they may not be familiar with German Lanvin jewellery. I am in Continental Europe, and we see both here.

I can't help you with your querie regarding real or fake, but maybe other European members can. Tagging @Ownedbybear .:)

    As an aside:
My guess is that German Lanvin jewellery was made by Grossé for Lanvin, but @Ownedbybear can probably tell us more.

Grosse made for several high end couture houses, so I’d agree on that.

When we refer to "Lanvin Germany," are we referring to another, separate company (perhaps a licensee) or a branch office? And @Anita from Pooraka, you write "Some Lanvin jewelry I have..." Does that mean you have other pieces?

The history of Lanvin after the death of Jeanne Lanvin's daughter Marguerite is a complicated one. The company changed hands many times and divisions were sold off.
I think (but don't know for sure) that the jewellery division as such stayed a single company, but with two bases. I could be wrong, but such a construction is not unusual.

Jewelry was introduced in the 1960s. But agree. The company was sold multiple times, licensed numerous product lines. For the most part, the equity of these old luxury designer labels is in the logo. Can't imagine how/why a piece would carry two different ones. But the "Made in Germany" mark does suggest authenticity.
