I've been interested in Janet Ontko's work for a few years but never had the opportunity to own a piece of her work. I think she's a wonderful artist and her designs reminds me of Pewabic Tile (a Michigan treasure! GO BLUE!!). I was absolutely shocked when I came across this piece at my local thrift for 6 bucks! Then, I almost has a heart attack when is rang up at HALF OFF! That means it was sitting there, out in the open, for two weeks!! Anyway, I just wanted to show off my newest little treasure that will be carefully packed and tucked in some closet somewhere with the hundreds of other little treasures I keep but don't have the room to display properly. :/
Nice find. I have one of her tiles I also found on the secondary market. Nice work that is underappreciated IMHO. Looks like she is still making tiles: TILES - Janet Ontko
@verybrad 100% agree. Although $60 or so for a tile is expensive (at least in my mind) I think the quality of her work makes it a worthwhile treat.
I love it. I think many of us have little treasures tucked away in a closet for the very same reasons you do ! In fact I might have more tucked away than I have on display .
Very pretty!! Lovely color and good form. A treasure stash is best if you go through it occasionally to visit and hopefully rotate out what you have on display.
The framed art is a bit stacked up, though I do rotate it. Everything else that's not for sale is out somewhere... I once had dreams of being more minimal but the thrift ruined me.
Mine said that too but I got hit by a car this year and I did not get the disrobing service. You'd think for the price I got charged I'd get more service!
