Featured Gold With 9 Opals; Marked 'K' beneath the 14K

It's 1 5/8" by 5/8". This an' the Crown Royal are with all the costume jewelry earlier posted (a very partial sample, I'm led to believe). The marks are on the small disk beneath the pin, behind the large central stone. The opals are much more fiery than this pic shows...I suspect they're bone dry. Thanks for lookin'!

Are you hoping to ID these, or more of a show and tell?

If you are trying to ID the maker, add a photo of the mark as well. Even different style "K's" can lead to different designers.

It's a beautiful brooch. Even before I noticed you listed it as 14K I was thinking, this has to be gold!

 

Beautiful brooch. My guess is 1950s, but American jools are not my forte.

The fireplay of opals is notoriously difficult to photograph.

Thank you. She is getting what might be called 'the Standard of Care' here in my small (~22000 folks) city...at a staggering $310 a day. It's a real burden...they're not wealthy.

 

I don't know how it is in the US, does Medicare cover that? I hope they don't have to pay that themselves.

That one is a dead-ringer for mine...except for 0.25G heavier (3.8 here). The condition note says “Two small Ruby Stones are missing”...but I can see no place that shows their sockets, nor does mine have them. I'll get a pic of the mark, post it here soon. Thanks!

how could anyone know there are two rubies missing,,,,, unless they had and identical item..... and even then.... there's no place for more stones !!

And I find it hard to believe it is Victorian. The pin hinge and clasp look original to the brooch, and they are both well into the 20th century.
It could be 1950s Victorian Revival.

Yes, it is...an' at that price it ain't moved in almost 3 years, apparently...since Jan 11, 2022.

 

Would it be a good thing to soak this pin in water...in hopes of helping the opals? If not, how else to offer moisture to them? Thanks...
