    hi folks

i picked up these from local auction this week. only showed a picture of the fronts, and thought they looked old

picked them up yesterday, and the backs filled me with dissapointment

they are carved wood, and differ in size of details, and smell old

so wondering if they are something that have been recyled into something usable.

the mirrors look to have been added quite sloppily

    im 50/50

    any thoughts or info appreciated

I'd think they're contemporary with the hardware i.e. new. Aging appears artificial. (And you know the columns are of the Ionic order?)

The first one could be modern Balinese, but I'm not sure the elephant is Indonesian.
But I don't know much about this type of thing.

I'm not sure of the elephant either. I'd put it down to Homegoods/Marshalls here in the USA and leave it at that.

The paint job on the elephant looks a bit like the paint on those Burmese (sleeping?) chubby kids. Those are often sold as Indonesian by sellers who don't want to list them as Burmese, for obvious reasons.
