unsure if this is a genuine Margot de Taxco piece and how old it is. Some of the marking seems correct but the name is unclear. Looking for any info. Thanks IMG_5190.jpeg IMG_5192.jpeg

It certainly doesn't appear to have the same finesse as this one.

She did use the #16, but I'd wonder about how sloppy the mark is.

IMG_0109.jpeg IMG_0109.jpeg Looks better after a clean. Can’t compete with professional lighting though. I did find one on an auction website of past sales and the design number and markings seem to match. Would love to find what year it was from. I know post 1948 with the eagle mark, but could be anywhere up to late 1970’s if its real

last 2 pics the comparison from an auction site

I've taken the liberty of reposting your photographs as Full Image instead of Thumbnail so they're easier for everyone to see. You'll want to remember to do that in the future. (And not to worry. All new members do the same thing in their first posts.)

First of all, I am no expert. But apparently genuine Margot de Taxco pieces have crisp looking marks and blurry marks are an indication of fakes.

Maybe shame on me but I’d buy it as authentic. I’ve definitely seen authentic pieces from the greats with less than clean stamps but more than that IMO it’s a lovely but minor piece and IMO not worth faking. The snake necklaces are the most faked.

At the $50 I paid I am not losing either way. Appreciate all the input though before I give it away for Christmas. Nice to be able to tell the friend receiving it what it might or might not be

It’s a lovely gift. I’d be very happy if I received it but IMO you don’t have to worry about giving away something major (which I’ve done to the tune of prob $30,000 plus…)

I have no idea about Margot De Taxco marks specifically but poorly struck and/or sloppy marks seem to be a trend on Mexican jewelry in general in my experience. I think I’ve probably seen many more much less than perfect marks than I have near perfect ones or really good ones. If the piece has a natural curvature that wouldn’t help when marking.
