This pair of lamps was handed down to me by my great grandmother, we were always told they were very very old and valuable but thats about it. i think they said they were remington lamps and they were converted to electric but that could all be wrong.

They are rather heavy green glass with gold leaf, theres no marks or names on them but i havent taken off the felt on the bottom to check inside. photo_1_2024-11-17_21-40-30.jpg photo_2_2024-11-17_21-40-30.jpg

How old would you consider "very very old" be? And would/could you post a photograph of the entire lamp including shade? And one of the base's bottom? (I realize the base is covered in felt.)

considering the story of it being converted id assume pre 1920s maybe 1930s

The hardware looks more 1950s/60s; they'd need to have been totally rewired to be 20s lamps. They don't look like older lamps; the bases and paint on the glass look later than you were told.

Agree, 50s and always electric. Art glass likely from Italy. Don't look like Remington to me.

I typically don't advocate replacing original/period shades but... Those could fit well into a MCM decor with the right shades.

Yeah, those shades are the wrong style IMHO, even if original.

They'd benefit from something simpler, something that would showcase the glass to better advantage.
