    IMG_2627.jpeg Hi everyone!

    Fairly new here.
Just had a warm welcome recently and was given some great info about a jewellery box.

As I've taken to wandering around house clearances and charity shops, I've now found something else that I'm tempted to buy.
It looks like a lot of works gone into it, quite detailed.
But I know nothing about this type of thing, might as well just be junk I guess.
    I'd appreciate any info.
(In particular, I was wondering what the reddish/darker brown blotches might be from)
    Cheers! IMG_2628.jpeg

Stains could be from foodstuffs, nuts etc.

I'll defer to the UK posters on this one. We Murricans didn't get Indian items in any quantity until post-Independance. It does look like a serving tray for food though, so food stains make total sense.

Yes it does look like a Kashmiri wooden serving tray.
Normally those round parts (6 of them) would have a bowl at the centre of it which would hold the nuts/ fruits.
Cant make out the size from this picture but I would think this is a serving tray

I haven't actually bought it (yet) so don't know the actual size.
    Maybe around 80cm x 40cm?

It is nice to start getting involved in this type of thing and appreciate stuff.
The carving does look good imo too

It is an attractive piece, but imo it is better to wait for a complete one, so including the bowls. Incomplete pieces are a difficult sell.
