Wow, really beautiful! That's a keeper.
It would look lovely in a frame.
The ribbon repair is an easy fix.

If the ribbon is period, I wouldn't replace it. Modern satin ribbon will have no where near the same quality.

Great find, charlie, Canton export fan, ca 1815-25.
You can still get antique fan ribbon in the UK, and it is worth replacing it. Collectors prefer it with the ribbon in one piece, and it is easy to do.
I think I have an address where you can buy/order it, if I find it I'll post it.

Just a tip, always include a photo of a fan all the way open. The angle when open says something about the age, as does the size.

The mirror is a beauty. It also looks like an export piece, although much later than the fan.

awesome thanks Aj  a lot earlier than i thought. once the ribbon is on i'll be able to tell better what the span is like, as hard to tell when parts are loose.

I stay away from ivory. In Massachusetts in the USA, in order to legally sell it, I would need to prove it's pre ban. Having an original sale receipt would be nice, but realistically how often does that happen? And something like this would not be worth the time and money to hire someone for an evaluation that could pass muster.

Where I am, you can't sell ivory unless it's to a museum or some such. I'd still have bought it.
