Older M&S stuff used those clasps, I think that's 1980s.

Spinels hit an 8 on the Mohs scale, so harder than quartz. Then again so do CZs. so I'd get it checked on a real gem tester. Corundums ring in at a 9, and sapphires do come in purple but I don't think that one. Synthetics however... could be any and all.

160 or so 1957 $1 Silver Certificates. Not rare, not in the best of shape, but a find because of how much I paid for them... $40.

Thanks. Just sitting in a ziplock bag on a table. I really wasn't expecting that price when I asked. I took another quick look to make sure they weren't "funny money".

I don't understand, why would someone charge $40 for what they can spend as $160 face value at any store?

Maybe they did not realize, Marie? They were not terribly uncommon when I was a kid, but they were on their way out at the time. Get some young whippersnapper with little exposure to older things and viola! Must be some kind of fake money.

You really have to wonder what people think sometimes Kronos! A few finds, the silver bowl floored me as it was in a place notorious for never putting anything good out. I wouldnt have looked at it if not for the poster on here who found some,as 99.999% of them are Rogers silverplate!

Seconded! I think Kronos wins this weekend!

I found a Coach purse (direct to consignment store ASAP) and a 1905 Zimmerman sterling photo frame. But last week I found some nice beads in said consignment, badly strung. I recognized them as native-cut garnets and hauled them off for all of $14. Restringing accomplished; I added the sterling clasp. The big ones are so big they look opaque and black. The small ones light up dark red.

a few things I've picked up, a KISS colour changing light, nice leather carrying case with a print inside, the print is badly damage but the case is nice although I have no idea what I would put in it and then this box with egg grader weight inside. I can't figure out how they work so will be starting a thread on it

Wow! My local coin dealer sell these for $1.50 each for the lesser condition ones and up to $7 to $10 for the really crisp ones without any folds in uncirculated condition.

Speaking of my local coin shop, I bought these from them today for $20 each.

Between mail delivery of online finds yesterday and scavenger hunting at an antique/vintage mall today: B8A2A9D9-9D77-4C54-86D3-F9468ED750FC.jpeg Another little pill box hat lined with fur in lovely vintage condition.

E13DED60-B3DC-44FA-AA85-739766826127.jpeg This rather large envelope clutch made out of fur. The inside is a woven material with two pockets.

E02C923A-9CF0-4E6F-BEFB-60F4227480E6.jpeg A “Gibson Girl” style brooch.

21546BD0-6509-4CE6-8DBE-EC3358E641F7.jpeg A sterling picture necklace with little gold accents.

CDE77420-1043-444A-9625-0A7FF06F47FC.jpeg A gold colored beaded evening bag. The lining is a bright canary yellow, tag says made in Japan.

BD4BDECA-44A4-4EF7-A57B-D8E9FB2E64B0.jpeg This ring which looks cobbled together from different bits. The face is a large oval with a portrait. The band part looks to be a different metal type and style.

04C8EEFF-77FA-4FC1-B0E8-901B7B3425A7.jpeg A dainty mercury dime someone repurposed as a ring.

B7330E82-D953-4176-ACEB-F7E66FD68866.jpeg And finally this cameo which arrived yesterday. A nice c-clasp and it did test positive for a low grade silver.

I’m trying to convince (hen-peck) my husband we need these lamps which while I did NOT haul away today, I am strongly considering going back to the mall and purchasing:

    Ariadne.

LOL Athena & Athena with a bit of facial fuzz & a lion added to the crest of the helmet to turn her into Mars, the aegis changed from Medusa to...? Sort of Pan, sort of not anything in particular.
